Welcome to Moku Images, the home of Mark Corcoran's photography.
Mark is a native of New Zealand and developed an appreciation of nature at a young age. He discovered scuba diving as a teenager and fell in love with the ocean and its inhabitants. Mark traveled extensively throughout the Carribbean studying sharks and stingrays and earned a Master of Science degree in Marine Biology. For several years he lived on the beautiful island of Maui and now resides with his family in Silver Strand Beach, California.
Mark's love for photography began as a way to document his travels and adventures. While a majority of his subjects are in and around the ocean, he is also inspired by the beauty of the National Parks all across the USA and continues to capture their stunning landscapes whenever possible.
Moku, the Hawaiian word for Island, denotes both the backdrop of Mark’s life and the inspiration for many of his images. The sinuous graphic at the top of this site is a Maori Kowhaiwhai, a design symbolizing ocean waves and the hammerhead shark or mango-pare.
